AUSTIN (KXAN) — Google entered the field of weather forecasting with the debut of their GraphCast AI weather computer model. KXAN Meteorologist Nick Bannin spoke with UT Austin Professor Liang Yang about the model and its benefits and potential flaws.KXAN Meteorologist Nick Bannin: Liang Yang, UT professor at the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences joins us. So Google recently announced their AI weather computer model known as GraphCast. What do you make of it so far?Liang Yang, UT Austin Professor: Yeah, this is revolutionary news, and, indeed, Google's GraphCast is a very intriguing development in AI weather for weather modeling. And this actually one of the recent developments, following other similar developments elsewhere, like in China, and in Europe. So this leverages advanced technologies to predict weather patterns. ST. LOUIS - Just three days before Christmas, police are investigating a woman's murder in the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood.Police responded to a call on Kennerly Avenue off Goodfellow Boulevard. Uporn arrival, they found a woman shot inside a home. She was not conscious or breathing.Our Nissan Rogue Runner reporter, Nic Lopez, shared that police discovered the woman's body in the living room, near the front door of the home. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - New details on a Hazelwood crash Wednesday night involving two cars at Dunn and Brown Road.That crash sent six people to the hospital. ST LOUIS - Three people are in custody Friday morning following an armed robbery in St. Charles that led to a chase in St. Louis County and City Thursday night.This was the scene near Hampton Village on Chippewa in south St. Louis. It all started shortly after 8:00 p.m. on North 3rd Street in St. Charles when three suspects stole a six-pack of beer and pulled a gun on a clerk. LOUIS - One of the largest urgent care chains in Missouri will have to pay more than $9 million over insurance claims.Federal prosecutors say Total Access Urgent Care submitted false insurance claims for COVID-19 testing between April 2019 and December 2021. LOUIS - Mercy Hospital St. Louis' new care-at-home program is gaining traction.According to FOX 2's partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the program allows acutely ill patients who live within a 25-minute drive of the hospital to receive care in their homes. They are given monitoring equipment, medications and a number to call at any time for help.
