SAN FRANCISCO — In the moments after the Los Angeles Lakers eliminated the Warriors from the playoffs last month, Draymond Green said he wanted to “ride out with the same guys I rode in with.”He reiterated on his podcast the following week that he wanted to return to the Warriors.“I’ll say it right here for you, this isn’t it,” he said. “We plan on doing this again. That’s the plan, obviously, this is a business and things has to take place.”News broke on Monday that Green plans to decline his $27.5 million player option and enter unrestricted free agency. That doesn’t mean Green is certain to leave the Bay Area, though. There are rumblings that the Warriors, under new general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr., could shuffle their exorbitantly expensive roster to be more competitive after an early playoff departure and with stricter CBA rules afoot.“We really want Draymond back,” Dunleavy said at his introductory p...Stanford Cardinal’s wild post-season run halted at College World Series by Tennessee Volunteers

CINCINNATI (AP) — Joey Votto rejoined the Cincinnati Reds’ lineup on Monday night after 10 months sidelined by an operation to repair his left biceps and rotator cuff. The 39-year-old was batting sixth and playing first base in a series opener against Colorado in the first big league game since Aug. 16 for the 2010 NL MVP. The Reds entered with an eight-game winning streak, their longest since 2012.“I feel much more like myself,” Votto said. “I’m back to full health. Ten months is a long rehab. If I’m going to rejoin a winning ballclub, my responsibility is to be up to speed with them.”Votto had surgery on Aug. 19, ending a season in which he hit .205 with 11 homers and 41 RBIs. PARIS (AP) — Kylian Mbappé’s twice-taken penalty moved him one goal behind Michel Platini on France’s all-time scoring list as Greece was beaten 1-0 in European Championship qualifying on Monday.Platini won the Ballon d’Or three straight times from 1983-85 during his heyday with Juventus and France, for which the gifted playmaker scored and created goals with a casual brilliance that became his trademark.“It’s huge when you know what Michel Platini represents for France,” Mbappé said. “He’s a legend.”The win was a fourth straight for World Cup runner-up France without conceding a goal in Group B — all with Mbappé as the new captain.“Let’s hope it lasts. I’m learning every day,” Mbappé said. “It’s an enriching experience to have this responsibility.”Mbappé also reached 54 goals over the season combined for France and Paris Saint-Germain to beat the overall mark set by the great Just Fontaine in the 1957-58 season — the year Fontaine set an individual scoring r...Former top pick Henry Davis arrives in Pittsburgh eager to help after sprint through the minors

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pirates tried to take their time with Henry Davis. His bat wouldn’t let them. The top overall pick in the 2021 amateur draft was to make his major-league debut on Monday night, playing right field while batting seventh against the Chicago Cubs in hopes of sparking an erratic offense in serious need of a jolt. The Pirates insist they remain committed to making Davis an everyday catcher. For now, however, the 23-year-old will spend most of his time — at least during games — getting a crash course in how to play right field at PNC Park, where the 21-foot-high Roberto Clemente Wall and its sometimes funky caroms can make learning the position on the fly difficult.“If I can help the Pirates win in right, I’m excited about it,” Davis said.Davis’ debut caps a rapid rise through the system, particularly this season. He began the year at Double-A Altoona and was promoted to Triple-A Indianapolis on June 4 with the team intent on having him splitting catching wi...'He had a hoof print on his chest': Moose attacks man as he walks his dogs

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) -- Mike Amdur is a firefighter at the Foothills Fire Protection District around Lookout Mountain. He said the grasses in the area are green and several feet high after all of the recent rain."There's good moisture content right now, but we worry when those grasses dry out, they create a very large, heavy fuel load for us and can generate pretty intense and fast-growing fire behavior," he said.Amdur said grasses dry out much faster than trees and it doesn't take long.According to Zach Hiris, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Boulder, the rest of June looks to be pretty dry."For places like the plains where it is predominantly grass, it just takes a couple of weeks of really dry conditions to get those fuels available to burn again," Hiris said. When was Denver’s last 90-degree day? He said there would be reason for concern if the area moved into an extended dry period, after a very wet period."We did that a couple of years ago where th...Latest news
